YOUTH RECOGNITION 

 

Elks 2188 Youth Recognition Dinner

 

 

The Arlington-Fairfax Elks Lodge No. 2188 recognized an outstanding group of local young men and women on Friday, April 1, 2016.  The Lodge honored seven students who received scholarships for outstanding academic achievement - Sahith Mayala of Thomas Jefferson High School, Paul Marcelli of Lake Braddock Secondary School, Samuel Ressin of James Madison High School, Valerie Chen of Thomas Jefferson High School, Menatalla Mohamed of JEB Stuart High School, Laura Nickell of James Madison High School and Sarah Siegel of McLean High School. 

 

The Lodge also recognized more than 30 Girl and Boy Scouts who either earned the Girl Scout Gold Award or the Boy Scout Eagle Award.  Each of the young Scouts completed an imposing set of requirements, including a project benefitting the community. In 2015, in the Fairfax City, Falls Church, Oakton and Vienna jurisdictions, the Boy Scout George Mason District's 97 Eagle Scouts performed more than 12,250 hours of service projects benefitting the community.  The 27 Girl Scouts contributed more than 2,000 additional hours of service to the community.
